What a weekend for JKS England's south west clubs, as Bristol Karate Academy and Somerset Ryu Karate took home four kata medals from four attempts between them!

Tim Griffiths joined forces with fellow JKS England squad member Thea Priest to take gold in the Pairs Kata, in their first event together. They were both grateful to the Bristol and Somerset clubs for providing dojo space and time to train for the event.

Tim also picked up gold in the +35 Male Kata, improving on the bronze from last year's event. With particularly tough semi-final and final rounds against friends from the tournament circuit, the event was a good test ahead of the Central England Open and the other tournaments to come throughout the year.

Thea followed up her Pairs gold with a fourth individual kata medal from four tournaments, showing incredible consistency. And with a coin-flipper of a loss in the semi-final, she should take great heart from her great form.

Finally, a big congratulations to Lucie Tarr from Somerset Ryu Karate for her gold in the 12-13 years Individual Kata.

Well done to all of you. And thank you to Doug James, everyone at Chojinkai Karate and all of the officials for organising and officiating such a well run event.
