Two medal placings and so many 'almost' performances from Academy athletes on Sunday at the EKF's E1 Series event in Manchester.

Lucie Tarr added to her 2025 tally with a bronze in the Female Cadet Kata. Her performances in repechage were perhaps her best of the day, making sure third place was hers with wins over her opponents from Links Karate and NKA. Lucie will be hoping to continue her successful start to the year, having medalled at every event that she's taken part in so far this year.

Tim Griffiths made up for a minor wobble in Male Senior Kata, leading to a 3-2 loss, by being awarded gold with Anthony Halsall, Jason Lam and the JKS England kata team. This was the trio's first competitive outing together. They'll now go away to see what they can improve on in order to be fully prepared for the JKS European Championships in Copenhagen in September.

Bristol's medallists were representing JKS England, who finished third on the medal table and with the most medals of any club or federation at the event.

Well done to all JKS England athletes and to the JKS England coaches, who gave up their time to make sure our members were supported on the day. Finally, thank you to Yanagi Kai for hosting the event and keeping things running like clockwork.
