Last weekend marked the last of three consecutive weeks of tour, as Academy members donned their red and blue tournament belts once again. This time for the Southern England Karate Open.

The event – held at the University of Kent in Canterbury – saw competitors from 49 clubs and federations  compete for the title of South of England Champion. From our team of five competitors, we were delighted to see everyone picking up a medal, including three golds.

Here are the results from the Academy:

GOLD for Tim Griffiths & Benjamin Griffiths in Parent & Child Pairs Kata
GOLD for Tim Griffiths in Male Veteran Individual Kata
GOLD for Finn Westcott in Open Senior Individual Kata
SILVER for Juan Rodrigues in Male Veteran Individual Kata
SILVER for Nephele Metsiou in Female Under 14s Individual Kata
SILVER for Benjamin Griffiths in Male Under 12s Individual Kata
BRONZE for Juan Rodrigues in Male Senior +67kg Kumite
BRONZE for Tim Griffiths in Male Senior Individual Kata
BRONZE for Benjamin Griffiths in Male Under 12s -35kg Kumite.

Congratulations to everyone who took part!
