CELEBRATING THE SEASON
By Admin
13 December 2024 10:50 am
Academy members and their families celebrated the end of the year in style, with a maximum capacity 120 people filling Backwell Parish Hall for the annual Christmas Party & Awards.
The event had such a fantastic atmosphere, with people from all four Academy dojos mixing and sharing a complementary mulled wine, mulled cider or soft drink to toast what has been a record breaking year for Academy members.
A fixture at the event for the last few years is ‘The Bruised Arms’ pub quiz, hosted by Ian and Annette. Each table pooled their knowledge in an attempt to win a bumper hamper full of treats, battling through rounds including movies (featuring cameos from Academy members and instructors) and the ever-popular ‘will it sink or will it float?’ round. Congratulations to the table led by Abi and Jay for winning!
Every year we take time to recognise our members for their incredible efforts with our Academy awards. And in a year where we saw more kyu grade passes and more medals than ever before, it was tough to pick the winners. Take a look at
who won what
. Well done to everyone for all of your individual successes. We couldn’t be prouder!
We were also pleased to be able to recognise our instructors and the many other people that help to keep Bristol Karate Academy running as smoothly as it does. Thank you to everyone that supports us. Your efforts are always appreciated.
With awards done and dusted, it was time to welcome a special guest to the Academy. After writing a letter with a special request to the North Pole earlier this year, we were delighted to welcome Father Christmas to see our members. We know it’s a very important time for him, so we’re very grateful for him taking time out of his busy schedule to bring presents and chocolates for all of the children (and a few of the bigger kids too!).
Thank you to everyone for coming and to everyone that helped on the day! It was a fantastic way to celebrate the successes of the year and we look forward to celebrating more of your incredible achievements in 2025, as we get underway again on Thursday 2nd January.
