Congratulations to Bristol Karate Academy’s Tim Griffiths and to his JKS England team mates, Jason Lam and Karanjeet Basran, on another good performance at the EKF E1 Series event in Manchester on 26th May.

At it's launch, the E1 Series was positioned by the English Karate Federation as “the premier league of karate events run by our associations”. It gives the top all-styles competitors in the country the chance to compete regularly together. The Manchester event is hosted by the Yanagi Kai group and was another well-organised event, held near the Trafford Centre.

This was the third time Tim, Jason and Karanjeet have had the opportunity to compete together and, since the last outing at the British Championships, they had refined the bunkai part of their performance further. More interplay between the three competitors made for an even better performance and, ultimately, another gold medal.

With preparations for July’s JKS International Championships in Japan now in full swing, this was the last opportunity for the team to perform in front of the judges. The trio’s next job is to focus on their training and to narrow down the choice of katas the team currently practice from four to just two for the big event in Yoyogi National Stadium, Tokyo.

Best of luck to them for their continued training in the run up to the event!
